                           (SCRG) South Carolinians for Responsible Government Is Not Telling You This!

January 05, 2006 - Florida's Supreme Court has struck down the state's school voucher system.
The court says the nation's first statewide system that allows some children to attend private schools at taxpayer expense violates the state's Constitution. http://www.nytimes.com/2006/01/05/national/05cnd-vouchers.html?hp&ex=1136523600&en=8f038bcce0ad6ac0&ei=5094&partner=homepage

    HSLDA HAS RECOMMENDED CHANGES http://www.hslda.org/Legislation/State/sc/2005/SCSB949/default.asp  New Beginnings believes our "Home School Law is perfect as is.  Further, we believe that the moment someone other than the parent or guardian teaches a child that is not their own, it is not home schooling, but becomes private school law.  Statutory provisions do not authorize students to be taught by anyone other than their parents or guardians in a home instruction setting. 1989 Op Atty. Gen, No 89-22, p. 60.; and SECTION 59-1-110. "Private school" defined. SC ST SEC 59-1-110] "Private school" means a school established by an agency other than the State or its subdivisions which is primarily supported by other than public funds, and the operation of whose program rests with other than publicly elected or appointed officials.  and;
    Title 59 - Education CHAPTER 41 SECTION 59-41-10. Definitions. (c) "Private school" shall mean a private or independent elementary or high school which is not operated or controlled by any church, synagogue, sect or other religious organization or institution.
    This change in our law could also allow for additional loop hole funding/ fraud, should the PPIC Bill become law under the voucher scheme, once it is re-introduced after the 2006 elections? hmmm..   We oppose this Bill.  Also Visit our Private School Law page.
